Simon Brizdale - first promo

Simon Brizdale is a character I've had kicking around in my head for a long time now. I did a short story with him a few years back and this was the first page from that story. I've redrawn the inset piece (wasn't satisfied with the original) and I think this works well to get across the idea for my character.

I've been working on the script for the first major story arc and I'm ready to start producing pages for it finally, so this is sort of a promo piece.

In a nutshell, The Chronicles of Simon Brizdale lives in the vein of "Indiana Jones meets The Lord of the Rings meets Firefly". LOTR is the basic setting (it's fantasy), Indy is similar to Simon's character (treasure hunter/loner), and Firefly is the tone (action/humor). For the record, I had already finished the first Brizdale short story before I discovered Firefly, but when I first saw it (my local comic book store owner loaned me his dvd set of the show) my jaw hit the floor and I was instantly in love with it - it was EXACTLY the feel I was trying to capture with Simon.

So now I've set myself up and will have to deliver. I'll be sharing pages as I progress through them. Hopefully people will like it and spread the word.
